Mag and Drinks

Your Mag is a companion that provides you with extra offensive stats and a variety of other actions they can perform in combat that deal damage, heal you, or provide PP recovery.

Your character gains access to their Mag at level 20 through a Koffie client order, which you can then equip through the Items > Mag screen.

Drinks are temporary buffs that you can pick up before each quest.
Photon Blast, Support Level, Auto Action, and SP Auto Action devices can be obtained at the Photon Sphere and Excube shops.
Photon Blast
The two Photon Blasts worth using are Julius Nykta and Ketos Proi. Julius Nykta can be activated to group an upcoming crowd together for easy mobbing, while Ketos Proi can be used as an additional PP recovery option.

Support Level
As SuPh, you'll want a mag with either Dexterity or Technique fully leveled. Both provide the same amount of damage, but Dex slightly lowers the damage you take, making it the slightly better option.

Auto Action
Megid is your auto action of choice simply because it deals more damage than other auto actions. Be mindful of this against Anga, though, as this can get Dark resisted which guts Rykros damage.

SP Action
Vulcun/Rapid Fire is definitely the best SP action for Summoner. Upon reaching a boss-type enemy, Vulcun will begin firing a string of bullets (90 total), each restoring 1 PP, even during Photon Arts.

Note that Clobber/Dance isn't used on Summoner because it doesn't increase pet damage.

Trigger Actions
Your preferred trigger actions are going to be PP restore actions, since Summoner doesn't typically get much value from defensive actions.

Example Mag

Your mag will only perform actions if it has the energy to do so - once your Mag is max level, feed it junk (such as Monomates) to keep its energy up.
PP Restore E + PP Restore J
These two Trigger Actions are useful on Summoner for the high PP recovery they provide. PP Restore E greatly increases PP recovery for a short while when you fill your Photon Blast gauge, and is gained when your mag's T-ATK is higher than its other stats at mag level 30, while PP Restore J greatly increases PP recovery for a short duration at regular intervals, and is earned when your mag's R-ATK is higher than its Dex at mag level 100.

While they're desirable for Summoner, they can only be obtained by leveling a fresh mag in a pretty specific way, and are not available through exchange shops. As such, this is a helpful, but ultimately entirely optional aspect of Summoner gearing.

If you wish to build a Mag with both of these Trigger Actions, start with a level zero Mag and do the following:

  • First, raise your Mag's T-ATK stat to 30 by feeding it 15 T-ATK Food Devices - which grants you PP J at level 30.
  • Next, raise your Mag's Dex stat to 34 by feeding it 17 Dex Food Devices.
  • Now, raise your Mag's R-ATK stat to 36 by feeding it 18 R-ATK Food Devices, which grants you PP E at level 100.
  • To complete your mag, fully level Dex and buy Mag Level Down Devices from the Excube Shop to remove any levels in T-ATK and R-ATK.
Drinks last for an hour, so you typically won't need to return to campship to rebuff.
While there's a wide variety of drinks available, it basically boils down to using Shifta Drink EX / Shifta Drink Premium 2 in most quests.

In a mobbing context, it offers you more damage than the PA Damage increase of Photon Drink EX.

This drink's 50% attack increase is also relevant for bossing; when using Rykros, you double dip into this attack increase - your pets gain more damage, and so do your Rykros projectiles!

In content where you are consistently hitting weak points (and not using Rykros), Weakpoint Damage Bonus (Prem) is the drink of choice for its 20% increased Weakpoint damage. This effect is one of a few drinks obtained by selecting "Random Drink EX".

Unfortunately, if you don't have premium, it isn't recommended to use this drink as it'll only grant 15% damage - you'd lose Shifta Drink's PP cost reduction, and you would only gain a small amount of damage.
